Hello, friends!
I had the privilege of gaining quite the subscriber base after publishing this piece about fear. In my coaching and advisory practice, I work daily with founders and startup execs on many of the fear-mitigating tactics outlined in that piece — and I know, firsthand, that these tactics and practices are never as easy or simple as they sound.
So, we’re going to try something:
What thorny leadership or operational challenge are you suffering through at your company?
I know you have stories, and there might be one thing that you could use some advice or outside perspective on.
Maybe it consists of a wild concoction of motivations, quirks, fears and alliances (they always are) — or maybe its just your usual startup chaos stuff.
Either way, I’d love to hear from you.
Click here (or reply to this email) and tell me what’s going on, and share a problem that you’d like some outside perspective on.
I’ll pick a few and will do my best to share some guidance, tactics, tools, encouragement, maybe a bad joke — and will publish it (with all aspects completely anonymized) in a future newsletter.
Think of it as a strategy, ops and management advice column that helps land practices in the context of real-life. But career advice for COO-types is on the table too.
At a minimum, we’ll get to know each other. At best, we’ll all benefit from the understanding that we’re not alone.
I’m thrilled you’re here!
If you haven’t already, take a look at this prior piece on distilling your guiding thesis. It’s a helpful companion exercise for anyone preparing for planning or goal-setting at a startup.
Please consider sharing this newsletter, especially if you have a friend who:
joined a startup and is attempting to "fix all the things" with tools/process/unicorn hires
has cracked a code with their product, but now has a company to build
wants to go down the treacherous road of being a startup COO and wants a friend along the way <3Â
Until next time,
Amanda
